Agnes Cusack is a journalist and founder of the not-for-profit association the Multicultural Media Exchange (formerly New Australia Media). It links young people from indigenous, refugee and migrant communities with journalist mentors and they create stories distributed via the web and through Leader Community Newspapers.
Agnes worked in news and current affairs at the ABC with postings as a foreign correspondent to London for three years in the early 90’s and four years in Washington from the late 90’s.
While with the ABC Agnes also worked as a trainer at the South African Broadcasting Corporation and presented the Media Report on Radio National.
After the ABC she worked with the World Bank in Indonesia, the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands and as a program manager at SBS.
Agnes won a Walkley Award for her coverage of the Balkan War and was awarded a Knight Fellowship for Professional Journalists at Stanford University, California, in 2001/2002.
Along with New Australia Media she is teaching radio journalism at Monash University.
