Condolence Book

 Melbourne - Members of the public can record personal messages to those affected by the bushfires in a condolence book available in the foyer of the State Library in Swanston Street.

The book, provided by the Department of Premier & Cabinet, will be bound and housed by the State Library of Victoria along with other completed
Condolence books from various government agencies across Australia.
 
Donations are continuing to flow to the 2009 Victorian Bushfire Fund, launched by the Premier John Brumby in partnership with Red Cross and the Federal Government. 
 
Funds raised will be used to provide assistance to individuals and communities in towns and suburbs affected by the 2009 Victorian bushfires.
 
An independent panel made up of community leaders will oversee the Appeal Funds operation.
 
The Red Cross will not deduct any costs from public donations to cover Appeal costs. All interest earned on donations will be invested back into the Appeal. Should the funds raised exceed the amount required to meet these needs, any excess funds will be used to assist in future disasters in Victoria.
